FORTIS
Founded in 1912. Made the first series produced automatic wrist watch in the 1920s. Now specializes in instrument/pilots' watches. Fortis has always been an innovative and forward thinking manufacturer. In recent years the company has developed watches for use in extreme conditions, notably those of high altitude aeronautics and space. Supplies the Russian space program. Fortis offers many different models but the differences are often of detail.

The Official Cosmonauts' Chronograph "Cosmonaut". This is a high specification watch. This watch was the first Fortis model to be adopted for use in space (1994) having been tested successfully under extreme conditions. Day and date. Water resistant to 200m. Luminous. Matt stainless steel case. Screw down crown and pushers. Sapphire crystal, anti reflective both sides. Tachymeter bezel. At D= 38mm. & H= 13.5mm. this watch is smaller than it looks in the pictures and noticeably smaller than the Flieger model. Base movement: Valjoux 7750. Excellent compact chronograph.

The Official Cosmonauts' "Day/Date". Automatic. Matt stainless steel case. Unidirectional rotating bezel. Screw down crown. Water resistant to 200m. Sapphire anti-reflective crystal. Luminous. D= 39mm. H= 13mm. A lot of watch for the money. Base movement: ETA 2836-2.

B-42 Professional Chronograph. Automatic. Matt stainless steel case. Black dial (shown right). Double gasket water seal and pusher protection. Mineral glass back as standard. Sapphire crystal anti-reflective both sides. Strap mounting with four screws. Luminous. Water resistant to 200m. D= 42mm. H=15mm. Base movement: Valjoux 7750. A substantial watch which is very much in proportion and carries its size well. Modern design. This model is generally of higher specification than the Flieger Chronograph (597). A popular model and deservedly so.

B-42 Pilot Professional Alarm (also available with white dial as "Flieger Alarm"). This is a very
special watch. As far as we know only Fortis makes an automatic mechanical wristwatch which is a
chronograph with an alarm. The movement is the patented Fortis caliber F2001.
