MAX BILL
Max Bill (1908-1994) was a significant architect, designer and artist who in 1962 created a range of four wristwatches for the German firm Junghans (hence "Max Bill by Junghans"). These watches are now reintroduced. They are design ikons with a strong element of "less is more". They are quite small, slim and understated. They are interesting yet modestly priced. Available from early April 2005.An automatic version is scheduled for September 2006.

The manufacturer's web site is: www.junghans-germany.de

The Max Bill range is very simple. There are just four models and no optional versions. Three models are naked stainless steel and one is gold plated. All four are shown below. The first three have luminous markers. The gold plated model does not. Otherwise, apart from the dials, all four share the same specification:

Hand winding. Plexiglas crystal. Water resistant. D= 34mm. H= 9mm. Base movement: ETA 2801

First three, with strap (each) £295

Gold plated, with strap £305

For easy identification when ordering the code numbers from left to right are:
3700, 3701, 3702, 5703

COMMENT
These are relatively simple watches where the interest stems from the design heritage. 3701 is a design ikon.
