REVUE THOMMEN
Revue Thommen is a Swiss brand and was founded in 1853 by Gedeon Thommen. Only watches were produced until the1930s when the company diversified into aviation instruments. Today RT's instruments are among the leading products in the aviation industry. The "Airspeed" range of pilots' watches reflects the aviation instrument heritage in that these watches are extremely easy to read. There is also a "Traditional" range of watches. This includes mechanical alarm watches for which RT has been famous since the 1950s. Some of the watches use RT's own movements. Today the RT watch operation is part of the Grovana group which has been the case since 2001.

Airspeed Classic Time/Date. Automatic, satin/polished stainless steel case, black dial, luminous, sapphire crystal anti-reflective both sides, solid back, water resistant to 100m. D= 37.5mm. (as illustrated but also available with D= 32.5mm.) H= 11mm. Base movement: ETA 2836-2. Very easy to read. The date is indicated by a pointer so there is no loss of a numeral to provide a date window. The anti-reflection coatings on the crystal make it almost invisible. Exemplary clarity. A pilot's watch par exellence and very good value for money. Airspeed Classic Chronograph. Automatic, stainless steel case, black dial, luminous, 0-60 rotating bezel, day and date, sapphire crystal anti-reflective both sides, solid back, water resistant to 100m. D= 38mm. H= 14mm. Again very easy to read and yet not a large watch. Strong recommendation. Excellent compact chronograph. Low cost for the specification. Airspeed Retro Hand Winding. This model is a very viable alternative to the Glycine Incursore hand winding models. It is bold and large without being in the "oversize" category. Stainless steel case (part brushed, part polished), sapphire crystal, glass back, decorated hand winding movement, water resistant to 100m. D= 43.5mm. Movement: Unitas 6498-1. Strong recommendation. There are four versions of which three are luminous. COMMENT
Revue Thommen is a well established brand internationally though not so well known in the UK. All watches are well made and represent very good value for money, in some cases surprisingly so. The Airspeed range alone is quite large. All models may be ordered with confidence. The models shown above are our favourites.
