WHAT WE ARE ABOUT: Interesting mechanical watches. Our wrist watches and chronographs are all either Swiss or German. We specialize in Swiss watches and German watches which are not commonplace. We bring interesting and unusual watches to Birmingham and the West Midlands. For some of our mechanical watches we are the only authorized dealer in the UK.

ABOUT US: Our shop is in Birmingham, UK. Our background is in technical products rather than jewellery. The watches we sell are not only of the functional or instrument type. We also sell some interesting dress watches. All our watches are mechanical. GLYCINE, EBERHARD, ORFINA, FORTIS, HARWOOD, REVUE THOMMEN and GROVANA are Swiss. HANHART, LIMES, SCHAUER, STOWA, NOMOS, TEMPTION and MAX BILL are German. DODANE 1857 is French/Swiss. All fifteen brands were carefully selected and provide very good value for money at their respective price levels. Unlike the high profile brands, where so often the brand is more important than the watch, these fifteen spend little on promoting brand awareness. This is reflected in the value they provide. All fifteen brands are well known to watch enthusiasts. Choosing a watch from outside the mainstream can be very rewarding in respect of value, quality and design.

This internet site is a shop window for our very real retail shop (visitors welcome Tuesday-Saturday 10.30 until 6.00). We are an officially appointed retailer for each of the brands we stock. We do not offer active "on line" ordering. This is not only in deference to the wishes of some of our suppliers but also our choice. We are, of course, pleased to supply by mail order to customers who contact the shop in the normal ways. Most of our orders seem to require dialogues before they are placed so please feel free to make contact by e-mail or telephone. Our watches may be bought with the confidence that they are new, genuine and carry full manufacturers' guarantees. Please ask if you need help.

Regular customers should note that we have re-located to a new shop. This change was effective from May 25th. 2004. The new address and telephone details are under "CONTACT" together with our e-mail address which is unchanged.

DEALING WITH US: Ordering from us is very straightforward for both UK and overseas customers. Our prices are clearly indicated in GBP (£) and any special discounts are clearly described. All the prices given on the site include UK VAT (Value Added Tax) and consequently apply in the UK and other EEC countries. Customers outside the EEC are entitled to buy tax free, that is with the VAT removed. The VAT may be removed from our prices by deducting 14.9%. This gives the export prices for countries outside the EEC. Shipping is free to UK addresses so mail order customers pay no more than visitors to the shop. We charge for shipping outside the UK but the cost is usually small, typically £10 - £15. Some non-EEC overseas countries charge import duty and possibly customs clearance charges. Again this is very straightforward. These charges are almost invariably collected as a by-product of the delivery system. We keep data on import duties for most countries and can help with information although ultimately settling the duty is the customer's responsibility. Mail order payment is usually by VISA or MASTERCARD but other methods are possible. Please note that at the manufacturer's request Limes watches are not available for export.

If you deal with us you will be dealing with a real, bricks and mortar, visitable shop and a business which has existed for 32 years. You will not be dealing with an "on line" trader of indeterminate location. As we are not an "on line" trader you will not find an impersonal order form, which can't answer questions, on our site. We are very approachable by telephone, Fax, e-mail or personal visit (very good parking) and are happy to discuss watch issues with potential customers. There is a lot of helpful information available which we do not (perhaps dare not) put on the web site. We have our own watch maker as well as facilities for returning watches to their respective manufacturers.

We try to ensure that our prices are reasonable bearing in mind the service and support we provide as an authorized dealer. Where we can pass on savings to customers we say so on the site.
